HOMELESS PREVENTION

We offer financial assistance to help with utility disconnects and evictions. Verified homeless individuals may receive help with a deposit. Assistance is for Pike County residents at 35% of county median income.

We offer budget management training to our homeless prevention clients.

As an extension of our prevention program, we give away items such as furniture, appliances, kitchenware, bedding, etc. that had been donated by the community.

In 2009 Homeless Prevention Services were provided for:
        Utilities - 298 Households
        Rent - 10 Households

Emergency Services such as assistance with utilities, medicine, fans, heaters, kerosene, firewood, I.D.s, birth certificates, and formula were provided for:
        365 Households

Grace United Methodist and Waverly 1st Presbyterian also assisted with those services to an additional 390 Households
